design 1

11:21 PM
Here is the first incarnation of  my fill-er-up  and rest station and convenience store.  There are two masses that interact with each other by sliding into each other perpendicularly.  The reason that one is above the other is to allow for the car traffic to be separated from the pedestrian traffic coming from the park and to allow for a high vantage point for the vehicular traffic that will showcase the park and hopefully help travelers from dallas and houston want to stop at the park and stretch their legs.  The convienice store is the lower mass and allows users from the park to access it without interacting with the vehicle traffic.  the top mass will not be conditioned while the bottom mass will be.  These units could be prefabricated and brought onto the site.  They could be lifted into place by crane and set on piers.  Then the connections to the road and the trail system could be made.  This design is clean and functional and presents an interesting view from the highway with all the ramps and from the park with the piers and boardwalk.  All the machinery for the battery swap station is hung from underneath the top mass and is easily accessed for maintenance. The the space below where the top mass rests will be used for battery storage and charging.  there will also be a seating area outside along the river.
